Things to Do in Leicester

However long you find yourself in Leicester for, you won’t be short of things to see and do! Get an out-of-this-world look at our solar system and space at the National Space Centre. Home to the UK’s largest planetarium and a 42-foot rocket, it’s packed full of fascinating space facts and info. You can even go on your very own space mission…

If outdoor space is more your thing than outer space, there are plenty of parks and green spaces to enjoy in Leicestershire too. Try Bradgate Park, home of Lady Jane Grey. This huge expanse of countryside is located just outside the City Centre. It provides plenty of scenic countryside, woodland and open space to explore – perfect for walks or wildlife-spotting. Or how about Abbey Park. This beautiful green space right in the heart of the city is ideal for jogging, family picnics or just watching the world go by!

Other outdoor spaces to explore include the Botanic Garden, Grand Union Canal and the nearby Twycross Zoo.

For history buffs, there’s plenty to enjoy in Leicester and its surrounding areas. King Richard III was famously found under a car park in the city, and now you can visit his tomb. Located at Leicester Cathedral, it also has a visitor centre where you can learn more about the king and his life. There’s also the New Walk Museum, which has plenty of fossils, stuffed animals, Egyptian artefacts and artworks to browse.

For foodies, Leicester is famous for its curry scene, so if you like it hot, eat at one of the many amazing curry houses in the City. Or explore Leicester Market for a huge range of stalls featuring records, antiques, arts and crafts and local produce.

Other great things to do include catching a football match at the King Power Stadium, taking in a show at the Curve Theatre or partying at the Caribbean Carnival.

With vehicle rental from Paull’s, you can do all this and plenty more!
